Luke is a microbial ecologist who investigates life in extreme and contaminated environments. He uses tools in molecular biology, geochemistry, and bioinformatics to make sense of poorly characterized microorganisms in marine and terrestrial ecosystems, targeting those with relevance to the origin of life and extraterrestrial life.
